I think Plasmas have come a long way. They used to be too expensive to be worth it, but now they're better than LCDs. I totally agree that the image is just as good, don't let any store employee try to sell you something you don't need.

One of the allures of ultra thin flat panel televisions is the ability to mount them on your wall, saving space and creating a theater atmosphere. However, a TV wall mount takes a considerable amount of forethought. You need to decide which wall is best, how high it needs to sit, how many holes you’re willing to punch through your wall and who is going to do the final installation.

I love my new TV. The picture quality is great. Movies on Blue ray look outstanding. Vieracast needs more work. Wish they would add Netflix.

Sound is a little week, but connecting it HT system works great. AVCHD on a SD card from my Canon HD camcorder never worked. It did not find any movies on the card.

Also wish the pictures on SD card could be resized to fit the screen.

I had my TV delivered to California using Pilot. Contrary to most users experience with Pilot shipping, they never did any anything other than to drop the box off. No unpacking or connecting to it to a stand, no nothing.
The TV was dropped on in living room and delivery guy gave me a form to sign. When I asked him if it was OK to check the TV before signing, he told me to go ahead and pulled the top off. I just checked the top part of the TV and then he was gone. It took them less 10 mins.

I had to haul the 50'' TV on to its stand. I guess not all delivery guys go the extra mile.

I bought this set after thorough research and was truly thrilled with it right up until the set wouldn't turn on one morning, after having worked perfectly for 27 months. After being told that the plasma screen had failed...and since the set was out of warranty, the authorized repair shop gave me a $2100.00 repair bill for a TV I paid $1600.00 for and could replace for $699.00; which is precisely what I did. BUT...I bought an Insignia set from Best Buy...got the 4 year (!) extended warranty for $159.00 and the picture is just as good. The Panasonic customer satisfaction team was a JOKE..offering me a 30% discount on the original MSRP for a new set.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PANASONIC product again. Something this expensive should not totally fail in 27 months.

If your worried about LCD or Plasma, stop. Either way you get a good picture on both styles of TV. Thanks to all the negative advertising by the competition (Short monitor life and screen burn in) Plasmas have a lower price, and thats good for you. From what I have read online the negatives of owning a plasma have been remedied through technology. Newer plasmas have twice the screen life and built in anti burn in screen savers for inactive TV's that are left on. I have no worries on my purchase of the Panasonic G10 50". Great picture at about a $700 savings to a comparable LCD.

I spent months deciding on a TV. Did I want LCD or Plasma? 50" or 40"? Panasonic, Sony, or Samsung? Etc etc. I even went to a couple stores and looked at them, that only helped to further confuse the situation.

I bought the TC-P50G10 three weeks ago, and am very happy with it. I did a lot of research and tried out a number of TVs before settling down on this one, so I thought I would share some of the information and my experience with the TV, and hopefully make your decision in choosing the TV a bit easier.
